Hunger is the condition in which a person is not capable to eat sufficient food in order to meet basic nutritional requirement for a sustained period. The number of people suffering from chronic hunger raised gradually between 2014 and 2019. About 168 and 235 million people were suffering from hunger in 2020 and 2021 respectively and the number is expected to be increased to 274 million in 2022. Many global initiatives decided to end global hunger by 2025, but this needs resource mobilization and increased amount of effort. Global Hunger Index (GHI) is basically designed to create understanding and awareness of the fight against hunger. It measures hunger status at regional, national and international levels. GHI categorize population into various hunger levels on the basis of score and each year Global Hunger Index report focuses on some key points to be considered and recommendation to eradicate global hunger.
