India, with 1.41 billion people, is the second-most populous country in the world. Farmers continue to work hard, get sufficient food supply but the maximum Indian population does not get adequate quality and quantity of food. Food security has been dependent on these key factors i.e. advance agricultural technology package, farm input, technical support and institutional credit to the farmer. Several policies were introduced to improve the production potential. During 2000, Indian government launched a National agricultural policy with the collaboration of the private sector and promoted contract farming for technology transformation, crop production and inflow of working capital to overcome the food insecurity and nutrition-based problems. These efforts increased the crops production and built a foundation.
