Food additives are compounds that are added to food to preserve, flavour, or improve the taste and/or appearance of the food. Food additives are used by manufacturers to maintain nutritional value, freshness and safety, as well as to boost price and convenience. Essentially, our food supply would be limited and expensive if food additives were not used. The purpose of this report is to review the literature on the various uses of food additives in food by food producers and consumers. Many food additives like, antimicrobial agents, anti-caking agents, antifoaming agents, acidity regulator, sweeteners, antioxidants, emulsifier etc have used in foods.
