Abstract

The fertilizer industries face a regular contest to improve its products and to increase the efficiency of their use, particularly of nitrogenous fertilizers, and to overcome the possible adverse environmental impact. This is possible through either improvement of fertilizers already in use or development of new specific fertilizer types. Specialty fertilizers are innovative sources of nutrients which applied in special condition of soil and plant for special action in plant for achieving higher recovery, efficiency and economy. Specialty fertilizers inhibit the amount of moisture contact and help in gradual of release fertilizer nutrients, usually over a few weeks or a few months. Specialty fertilizers lead to advanced fertilizer management programs and to innovative farming systems such as no-tillage farming. They significantly reduce possible loss of nutrients, particularly losses of nitrate nitrogen between applications, and uptake by the plant through gradual nutrient release. They also reduce loss of ammonia due to evaporation, which substantially decreases the risk of environmental pollution.
