Abstract

In the context of attaining food security for the increasing global population sustainable food production is at the stake due to over exploitation of the natural resources. Unsustainable usage of land in conventional agricultural system has resulted farmers to adopt new cropping systems to achieve a sustainable and cost-effective grain production. Efforts to overcome the above situation resulted in evolution of conservation agriculture concept. Conservation agriculture (CA) is an alternative agricultural production system that minimizes the soil disturbances, conserves the composition and biodiversity of natural resources for yielding more from the constrained arable land. So, conservation agriculture is a way forward for long term production of profitable and sustainable production of food, fiber, feed.
