Abstract

Internship is a mandatory component of academic performance in many business schools not only in India but also across the globe. It is mandatory in most business schools because during internship, an intern learn the pragmatic approach to understand the management process which help him or her in placement. For this purpose, various academic institutions have the office of corporate relation or training cum placement division. Still, there are some students who are not offered any internship opportunities for which there could be various reasons such as low level of domain knowledge, time or location constraints or some time personality mismatch with the intern’s required profile. Under such circumstances, it becomes very difficult to get corporate exposure for some students which is a growing concern for most of the training-cum placement officers in academic institutions or universities. However, to mitigate such issues various institutions and universities are establishing career development centers but it is still not meeting the demands of students as discussed with some of the students studying in premium academic institutions of India. We have collected data through self-designed questionnaire and interview with some corporate executives. We have highlighted results followed by discussions and conclusions.
