Abstract

Physical activity has multiple health benefits. The health advantage of regular physical exercise across a multiplicity of persistent diseases area, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Hypertension, osteoporosis, cancer, obesity and stroke are now well established. A drawback of engagement in activity and sports is the extended stake of sports related injuries; this is well authenticated in all age groups, among both genders, in large variations of activities, and as well at the competent as at the recreational level. The participation in sports practice has rise along with the increase in the number of professional athletics. Sports injury is an important public health problems and a potential outcome of participation. The inability to deal with these demands leads to increased injury rates among athletes. The consequences of sports activities are not only physiological but also psychological. Track and field athletics are sports requiring a excellent degree of physical performance on effective foundation of an individual’s effort of high intensity training. Athletics is characterized as a sport with high training demands. Lower margin injuries are general in all sports, consequent in injury percentage ordering from 60-100%. Muscle strains frequently happen when a muscle is stretched above its range raptures the muscle fibres. Front thigh muscles activity engage with maximum stress in running and jumping and because of this they are often injured. A quadriceps strain is a state that is generally seen in kicking and running sporting and designate by peculiar tearing of the quadriceps muscle situated at the anterior of the thigh. Though coaches, physical trainer and Sports doctors have been doing their best possible efforts to prevent injuries but they have not got a complete success so far. The chapter define quadriceps strain injury, anatomy, mechanism, types, cause, contributing factors, and treatment, prevention and rehabilitation exercises.
