Abstract

Inorganic fertiliser can be used to boost crop yield; but, protecting the environment for future generations is crucial, especially with the world's population continuing to grow. Both organic and inorganic fertilisers can be used judiciously to achieve long-term crop productivity. Parts of inorganic fertilisers could be replaced with organic fertilisers to maintain and improve soil productivity and crop yield. When compared to the solo application of organic and inorganic fertilisers, a comprehensive literature analysis found that integrated nutrient management (INM) improves crop yield, nutrient uptake, and economic return. INM is a tool that can provide good options and cost-effective ways to provide plants with the nutrients they require, as well as reduce overall cost, create a favourable soil physical and chemical conditions and an environmental sustainability, remove constraints, protect soil nutrient balance, and find safe ways to dispose of agricultural residues.
