The purpose of this article is to provide a brief overview on the research done regarding the health benefits of Turmeric and its role in treating infections thus providing bacterial resistance and acting as an natural antibiotic. Turmeric, a spice that has been long recognized by both the medical and scientific world for its medicinal properties. It helps in the treatment of oxidative and inflammatory conditions, arthritis, metabolic syndrome, hyperlipidemia and anxiety because of its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Moreover, due to the increasing use of medical devices in postoperative wards, Intensive Care Units, and chronic care and life support facilities have raised the frequency of device-associated infections. Majority of these infections are due to the Medical biofilm. Biofilm accounts for 65% of health-associated infections globally. In this article we will first discusses about the in vitro studies with turmeric, followed by its clinical studies and uses.
