The importance of medicinal plants for the human health is very well known worldwide. The use of medicinal plants is from the Vedic era. The medicinal plant possesses its own importance as it is used for curing various diseases in humans. Each medicinal plant has a healing property in any of their organs. The medicinal plants are a rich source of bioactive compounds which are used in the synthesis of medicinally important drugs. The medicinal plants are also contains nutrients which are important for curing diseases. World Health Organization (WHO) has considered 11% of the total drugs as plant origin. People are more dependent on medicinal plants than on chemically prepared drugs as medicinal plants has no adverse effect on the human health. In this present review the use of various medicinal plants like Gymnema sylvestre, Eclipta prostrata, Centella asiatica etc. is emphasized.
