Abstract

The Coconut palm is also called as the “Tree of Heaven” because of its outstanding properties and its Ethnopharmacology (the study of medicines that occurs from the naturally occurring substances like plant and fungi) characteristics. It belongs to the family Arecaceae and scientifically it is known as Cocos nucifera. It is found in almost all part of the world but majorly seen in Tropical and sub-Tropical regions, many people rely on the product of Coconut tree such as its leaves are used to make house decors and other attractive pieces, its fruit (that is coconut) liked by many people throughout the World, the outer hard covering of the Coconut prevents it from the outer environmental condition and because of that reason it can also complete its Ocean journey without being affected from the salty water, and the outer hard layer is called as Coir, Coir fibre is used to make carpets, ropes, strings etc. Coconut contain a fluid content inside which is called as Coconut water which has many medicinal benefits and also preferred by many Nutritionists and the inner fleshy part of coconut is called as kernel which consists of many vitamins and dietary fibres that can prevent various diseases. When the kernel matures then it is called as Copra which is then used to make the Coconut oil which is rich in 90% of saturated fatty acids apart from this some other fatty acid like Monounsaturated and Polyunsaturated fatty acids are also present in Coconut oil. Coconut oil is used to cure some vital disease like Alzheimer’s diseases, and the tender Coconut is used to treat Oral cancer. There are also some factors that affect the growth of the Coconut tree such as soil, humidity, nearness to sea, climate, latitude, altitude, temperature, etc. There are also some phytochemicals (these are the chemicals found in plants that protects the plants against bacteria and other microorganisms) present in the Coconut tree like L-arginine, saponin, skimmiwallin, etc.
